Petición: John Lage – Trate a los Trabajadores de LMC con Respeto y Dignidad

ENGLISH: Workers at almost two dozen LMC Wash and Lube locations all across New York City are demanding that owner, John Lage and his partners meet with workers, stop retaliation and treat workers with respect; and New York City is ready to stand with them! Workers report that even after being forced to pay $3.4 million dollars to resolve wage theft claims just a few years ago, John Lage’s carwashes continued to steal workers’ wages and tips. In addition, they report facing dangerous conditions without adequate protective gear. The right to a safe working environment and a decent wage are values that are critical to all New York City workers. Please add your signature to tell John Lage:

ESPAÑOL: Los trabajadores de casi dos docenas de LMC Wash and Lube en toda la ciudad están exigiendo que el propietario, John Lage y sus socios se reúnan con ellos, paren las represalias y traten a los trabajadores con respeto; ¡y la ciudad de Nueva York está lista para apoyarlos! Los trabajadores reportan que aún después de haber sido obligado a pagar $3.4 millones de dólares en reclamos de robo de salarios hace solo unos años, los lavaderos de carros de John Lage continúan robándose los salarios de los trabajadores y sus propinas. Además, reportan que enfrentan condiciones peligrosas sin el debido equipo de protección. "John Lage, New York City is outraged by your mistreatment and retaliation against your workers at LMC Wash and Lube and across your chain of carwashes in this city. We are greatly appalled to hear that management has illegally retaliated against workers with threats and harassment, and cut workers’ hours and thus their pay, when they stood up collectively for their rights to legal wages and a safe work environment. We stand behind these workers and demand that you take immediate action to halt all retaliation and restore workers’ hours and pay. We insist that you promptly and respectfully meet with your employees to address these situations."

“John Lage, La ciudad de Nueva York está indignada por el maltrato y las represalias en contra de sus trabajadores en LMC Wash and Lube y en toda su cadena de lavaderos de carros en esta ciudad. Estamos bastante consternados de saber que la administración tomó represalias ilegalmente en contra de los trabajadores con amenazas y hostigamiento y redujo las horas de los trabajadores y por ende el pago, cuando estos se unieron para defender sus derechos a salarios legales y entorno laboral seguro. Respaldamos a estos trabajadores y exigimos que tomen medidas inmediatas para poner fin a las represalias y restablecer las horas y el pago de los trabajadores. Insistimos en que se reúna de manera pronta y respetuosa con sus trabajadores y solucione estas situaciones”.

Respect and Dignity for Immigrants

We are immigrants. We have come to this country in search of opportunity, and our families are part of the fabric of America. But our current immigration laws keep more than 11 million of us in the shadows, as a permanent underclass vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. That’s why we work together to transform our country’s immigration policies.  We believe that all immigrants currently in this country are entitled to a path to citizenship, and we reject repressive local immigration enforcement policies. We strive to ensure that everyone in our communities is able to access critical services, like those at government agencies and health care providers, regardless of English proficiency. And we strive to ensure that all families, including same-sex couples, are able to remain together and live without fear.

Respeto y Dignidad para los inmigrantes

Somos inmigrantes. Vinimos a este país buscando oportunidades; nuestras familias son parte del tejido de esta sociedad. Pero las leyes migratorias dejan más de 11 millones de nosotros viviendo en las sombras, como una clase marginada vulnerable a explotación y abuso. Por eso trabajamos juntos para transformar las políticas migratorias de este país. Creemos que todos los inmigrantes actualmente en los EEUU merecen una vía hacia la ciudadanía, y rechazamos las estrategias represivas de perseguir a inmigrantes en nuestras comunidades. Luchamos para que todos los miembros de nuestras comunidades puedan acceder a servicios críticos, como los que ofrecen agencias gubernamentales y proveedores de servicios de salud, sin importar si hablan inglés. Además, intentamos asegurar que todas las familias, inclusive parejas del mismo sexo, puedan quedarse juntas y vivir sin miedo.
