Highlights from our campaign launch

On June 23, Make the Road New York launched the Campaign for Respect & Dignity at our 4th Annual Community Assembly.

Every year, more than 700 MRNY members from New York City and Long Island convene with elected officials at every level of government to celebrate our victories, share our policy priorities, and outline our vision for New York.

This year's assembly was especially exciting, as we celebrated President Obama's historic Executive Order that will protect almost 800,000 undocumented youth from deportation, granting them work permits and a path to their dreams.

Joining us for the campaign launch were Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez; mayoral candidates City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, City Comptroller John Liu, and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer; as well as City Council Members Margaret Chin and Gale Brewer. Each speaker pledged to support policies that protect the dignity and respect the contributions of immigrants, workers, youth and LGBTQ New Yorkers.
